KEEP WITH TRADITION?

So Anna and I are discussing a possible change to one of our traditions. Now, mind you, I am huge on tradition. And if it works, it works and why change it, right? Traditionally, after the closing ceremony on the last day of convention we have a late check out and then Uber over to the Hyatt that is AT the Orlando Airport, for our last night before our flights on Monday morning. This allows us to relax and unwind for just a bit away from the craziness of the convention, reflect on our experience, and have one last night of fun before we both depart.

We always go down to the terminal and have our "last supper" at the Panda Express, taking our to go meals up to a quiet area of the hotel, overlooking the runway, sit and eat and just enjoy the rest and the peace and quiet after a week of hustle and bustle. Afterwards we go back down to the terminal and walk around the shops (99.9% of the time it's Anna buying this and that and I'm holding stuff for her like a husband would! Ha!) We retire to our room, repack, and get ready for our departure the next morning. I gotta tell you, having the convenience of being right AT the airport is so nice. Literally just go downstairs and you're there!

Now for the dilemma... Anna is a licensed Aqua Zumba instructor... after the closing ceremony/last day of convention there is an Aqua Master Class that has traditionally been very popular. Now that she's an Aqua instructor she would love to attend this Master Class. So what's the problem with that? Well, traditionally we go to the airport hotel the last night, with all the traditions that we've done each year there. If she attends the Master Class we won't get to the airport until late which will make it more difficult to do the things we've always done.

I suggested that maybe we just stay at the convention hotel Sunday night so there's no rush in getting over to the airport hotel. We'd extend our convention hotel stay one more night, she can shower and change comfortably and we can go "across the street" (think Las Vegas, where, you know, the hotel you want to walk to is "right there" ha ha) and have dinner at Denny's or one of the other close-by restaurants.

Anna's flight leaves at 10a Monday morning.... mine has been changed and now leaves at 4p. This will be the first year that I'm staying back and "closing up shop"... but that's ok. I can certainly take my time checking out and getting over to the airport. Most likely finding another instructor who's heading to the airport and share an Uber.

We've discussed keeping with or changing tradition. So far I think we are now leaning towards staying at the convention hotel the last night.... and not feel rushed on our last night together. We have until July 4th to make up our mind as after that the convention hotel reservation is then locked in. Stay tuned!
